People with oily skin, I'm sure you'll relate with what I'm going to say.
"Oily skin is a menace. It's annoying to always have a greasy film on your face, even if you take only a 2 minute walk. Acne and blackspots seem to take particular interest in my face. No sooner does one batch disappear, than the next one appears! I wish I had dry skin, my life and REM cycle would be so much better!"
Well, if you share my frustration over oily skin, I'm sure you too, like me, have run from pillar to post looking for solutions and ways to tackle oily skin. Don't feel shy about it, it's fairly normal. To ease your pain (literally) I'm listing down a couple of tips that will help you deal with oily skin. Using these tips, try to set up a constant skin care regime and you're sure to reap happy benefits from your efforts.
1. Do Not Shy Away From Products:
Using cleansers, moisturizers and other skin care products does not make you feminine. Wash your face twice a day with a facewash that is made for oily skin. A good example is the Garnier Men Oil Clear Facewash. This facewash is ideal for oily skin because it eliminates oil without drying your skin. Another important step is to moisturize your face after washing it. Use a moisturizing lotion that is meant for oily skin. Try to choose a lotion that has SPF 15 as well, as this will protect your skin from sun damage.
2. Try Out This Beneficial Invention Called ‘Face Mask:’
Face masks help clear out pores and suck out impurities. Do this twice every week and you’re sure to notice a difference in your skin. You needn’t visit a parlour or pay too much for a good face mask. Here is a natural face mask that can be easily prepared at home. All you need is a banana, 1 tablespoon honey and an orange or a lemon.
Squash the banana and mix in the honey. Now, add a few drops of lemon or orange juice to this mixture. Apply the paste on your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse this mask off with cool water and then, take hot steam on your face for a couple of minutes. Simple, right? Treat your face with this face mask for a couple of weeks and you’re skin will start feeling different. (A good different!)
3. Keep a Watch on Your Diet:
Your diet contributes as much to oily skin as not washing your face does. No one’s asking you to stay away from your favourite food stuffs, but try to balance your diet by cutting down on fatty foods and foodstuffs with added sugars. Also, refrain from indulging in salty snacks often. (Now you know what NOT to keep next to you the next time you’re sipping beers and watching a football game!) Instead, opt for foods rich in fiber and Omega 3 fatty acids. Increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables and consume lots of fluids, especially water. You don’t have to completely abstain from sinful pleasures but try not to indulge in them too often. (Your skin cries every time you do that.)
